Joined the independent student newspaper at Northeastern University, elected to position as Deputy City Editor for the spring 2023 semester. Elected to position as Projects Editor for the fall 2023 semester. Trained as a copy editor and edited multiple pieces a week. Signed up as SGA beat reporter. Reported stories for sports, campus and city sections. Joined design team and picked up a page each print issue. Designed graphics. Photographed events on assignment for sports, city and campus sections. Distributed print issues each print week.
Hellgate Lance -

The Hellgate Lance is the student newspaper of Hellgate High School. I was the only freshman published in the 2018-19 school year, and I officially joined the staff my sophomore year. I served as Editor-in-Chief both my junior and senior years, and in addition to reporting and editing, I ran the Lance's Instagram, tracked website and app analytics, and led the outreach effort to get our content read and recruit new staff members.
Student Voice - Journalism Fellow
August 2020-May 2022
Student Voice is an education equity national nonprofit that teaches students how to advocate for student-driven solutions through different programs, including their storytelling journalism fellowship. I applied to be a journalism fellow in 2020 and was accepted as one of the 23 fellows from across the nation. I learned to craft stories, pitch articles, conduct thoughtful interviews, report on hard topics and write compelling op-eds through skills calls, guest speaker presentations and monthly assignments.
School of the New York Times - Foreign Correspondent Reporting Program
July 2021
Selected for summer program run by the School of the New York Times focused on international reporting and coverage. Interviewed a refugee in an IDP camp in Iraq and produced several pieces of content reviewed and critiqued by NYT staff.
Student Advisory Board - University of Montana School of Journalism
December 2019
School of Journalism Director and Professor Denise Dowling organized a cohort of Missoula high school journalists to provide feedback on UM journalism programs. I was selected and participated in the first meeting before the advisory board was put on hold for the pandemic.
Amplify Montana Youth - Founder and Project Organizer
May 2020-December 2021
Amplify Montana Youth is a media project I founded that operated under the statewide nonprofit Montana Youth Action. The original mission was to provide election related info to young voters, but expanded to include media on a variety of civic engagement topics.
On-Camera Interview with President Seth Bodnar
January 2020
The Hellgate Lance worked with local TV broadcast station KPAX to produce a broadcast segment on the stigma of attending your hometown college. As part of this project, I organized an interview with University of Montana president Seth Bodnar, and held a 20 minute sit down interview with him on camera in front of my peers, our journalism advisor and the entire KPAX crew.
Interview with Nicolas Kristof
March 2020
Pulitzer Prize winning author and New York Times reporter Nicholas Kristof came to Missoula to promote his new book, Tightrope. Alongside a fellow Lance reporter, I planned and held a half hour sit down interview with him. Our interview was observed by professional local journalists and we were featured on the front page of the Missoulian.
